Do you love everything about Saint Patrick’s day except for the fact that… well, you hate everything about Saint Patrick’s Day? If that’s the case, here’s a promise you can hang your longshoreman’s cap on: our Saint Patrick’s Day celebration will be a one hundred percent respectable and green beer-free zone.
Folk collective Old Lazarus’ Harp will be creating a sonic accompaniment to Chef Patrick Sheerin’s delicious menu of Irish-origin dishes:
Smoked Salmon with Colcannon Boxty
Curried Vegetable Pasty
Irish Sausage Roll with Piccalilli
Irish Stew with Braised Lamb, Potatoes, Horseradish and Pea Tendrils
Spotted Dick with Stout Crème
And pretend you’re totally into this holiday for all the right reasons by entertaining your mates with a little historical anecdote: Chef Pat’s Curried Vegetable Pasty is a riff on the traditional Irish Butte Pasty, which originated as a miner’s noonday meal that traveled in a tin lunch pail down into the underworld of the mine. The crimped edge of the pasty acted as a buffer between the miner’s coal-blackened fingers and his lunch, and he would eat the pasty down to the “handle” of crust — then discard the remainder.
Old Lazarus’ Harp will play during Sunday brunch (11am-2pm) and on Saint Patrick’s Day evening (7-10pm). And now that our dining room is open during brunch, you can bring your entire Irish (and not-so-Irish) clan to partake in the feasting and festivities!
