If there’s one activity we’re always up for, it’s a summertime BBQ. Which can be tough for us, since our outdoor space is — how do you say — non-existent over here. Which works for 75% of a Chicago calendar year, but then July comes around and we can’t wait to spend Sunday evening manning a smoking hot grill.
So we teamed up with our neighbors over at Sportsman’s Club — whose backyard is truly fantastic — to co-host that BBQ we spent January daydreaming about. Exemplifying his role as a Chef’s Chef, Pat Sheerin’s BBQ menu playfully riffs on a classic Mexican braised pork dish, “Puerco Borracho” (event trivia, this translates to drunk pig).
Beer-braised and grilled pork necks with mojo sauce
Ensalada de frijoles with fresh market beans
Guacamole torta-avocado toast with charred salsa verde
Clever cocktails (per usual) from the Sportsman’s Club Team
Like all the good parties, our backyard bash starts at 4pm and ends when we run out of food and drink — or 2am when we’re legally forced to close the building, cuz you know we’re not gonna run out of drink.
Sunday, July 13th
4:00pm ‘til the food runs out
